User's with multiple positions/category access by member

Hi,
I have a board that needs to limit access to certain categories  to certain users, unfortuanately, simply setting positions won't solve this.

Is there a way to give a person multiple positions? Or to set category access by member? Are there any mods for this?

For example, I"d like person 1 to be able to access boards A, B, and C, person 2 to be able to access only  board A and B, and person 3 to be able to access only boards A and C.  To be able to do this I'd have to give every user permission to every board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You won't see this type of user permission levels until version 2 is released at which point this very thing will be possible.

Thanks for the info,  its good to know its in the works.

Of course, I could just make every user a group and add the user to the permissions. That will just get out of control.
Any work arounds you could think of?

You could probably do this by storing users membergroups with commas between them and then just explode the contents when checking access. It would be a hack but it should work.

Hey that's  a great idea! Any idea where the which file controls that?  Yabbse really needs a developer section for all this. Or at least well documented/commented code?  This would be a good project, maybe for the 1.5.1 release. Well documented code is essential for open-source. It encourages improvement by developer's. Every time I look to make changes, I'm a bit sketchy on doing it b/c its hard to see what's what when you haven't seen a comment in 50 lines. Where can this recommendation be made?

It is well documented in some parts, and the stuff is stored in SQL...

I'm going to work on commenting out/documenting the php.
really all function calls, and  variables should be documented at least the first time they appear in code. It just would help.
All the sql is passed in strings, so it's there in the php. No stored procedures and that. Once I get going, I'll be sure to share
