Hi,

I am new to the bbs world and want to add yabb to my site. I have heard that a bbs can quickly chew up bandwidth.

I currently have 1gb per month of bandwidth and only anticipate about 30 users with moderate usage.

Any comments as to whether or not I should be concerned about exceeding my bandwidth?

Also would someone care to give an idea of their experience of how much usage 1 gb would support  (approx number of users and the average amount of posting they do).

Many, many thanks,

Tom Brock

Hmmm, its tough. If your members are going through your forums, and reading things and using features you could be cutting it close, or maybe even way over. Its hard to tell...

I dont think 1 gb is enough tho, its too close and you certianly dont want to go over.

I reccomend going to a good hoster, such as powweb, and getting a cheap domain and hosting and awesome features.

If you use them put kotorpa.com for the referral. Its well worth the money ;)

My board as nearly 27,000 posts and 170 members (of which around 50 are pretty active).

Only started this board late february (using Yabb Gold). Moved over to SE about a month ago.

Use 5-6GB a month now (would be a lot less if my host supported Zlib compression...)

Thanks for the info GaleForce and PioneeR.

I figured it was an iffy proposition at 1gb. There is a good chance I will move to powweb. If so, I'll be sure to give you a reference, GaleForce.
