Giving access to private forums...

I set a usergroup to have access to private forums, how do I assign people that group?

View their profile and then modify it. At the bottom of their modify profile screen, you will have a drop down list of member groups. Assign them to the one they need.

arghhh, I did that and it worked, but their posistion changes to the user group now, I want to give people access rights but allow them to work their way up the ranks, is this possible?

The will have both
I.e. a Membergroup name and rank name

Hmmm, I saw the newbie ranking replaced with the membergroup name when I did it...
