This is what I keep getting while trying to run the converter and If I even try to continue past this part on to step4 it locks up my system........I am a total newbie at all of this so any help would be greatly appreciated........Thank You.........L

You're trying to run the converter out of
/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/yabbse and you are trying to access files out of
/cgi-bin/yabb

First of all - I'd be willing to bet you didn't stick your full path into the location of your Y1G install.  It should be something like
/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/cgi-bin/yabb

Finally, becase you are in safe mode, you may not have permission to access files outside of your base dir.  What you need to do, is copy your Y1G data (members, boards, variables, settings) into a subdirectory of your yabbse directory.  So that you can run the conversion on data in a place like

/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/yabbse/y1g
