Default Avatar

I don't know if this has been proposed but how about when a new person registers they get a certain avatar automatically assigned to them.... or the exact same thing for people in member groups?

Of course they could change their avatar to be something if they want to but I would like to know if this could be possible?

You can just replace the file called blank.gif

I said that earlier in another post by this person, but there are 2 possible problems. A) The image they are using isn't in gif format, and B) they don't want the image named "blank.gif".

Hmm... yea... I'm not really interested in putting in blank.gif because I know how certain people don't want to have an avatar.

I just want to assign a certain avatar (that is not named blank.gif) to new members or members of a certain member group without me having to go in and edit their profile and, of course, they would have to be allowed to switch to another avatar if they don't like their default avatar.

I hope I'm making sense.

I haven't tested this, but you should be able to just go into Register.php and change the instance of blank.gif to the filename of whatever avatar you want to use by default.

Thanks! I've tried it and it works.   Now I just need to do member groups.
