When I look in the yabb folder, all I see is archive.ya, converter.php, and install.php.  When I try to click on the installer.php it asks for an app to open it with.  I open it with BBEdit, and it is a whole bunch of HTML.  When I try and open it in Internet Explorer it won't load!  I thought they said the installation was going to be easier that YaBB 1 Gold.  Please help me!

Connect to your local PHP powered webserver to the document.

For example: http://127.0.0.1/yabbseinstall/install.php

It *is* easier....it's just that you have to run the installer via a webserver....not open it via windows.

The installer.php is, so to say, a web page.

So, upload the three files to your webserver that supports php, in a directory for example called 'yse_install'. When your server resides on your local machine, put it in the base-directory your web server uses.

Then you would start the installer by visiting the page: http://{webserver address}/yse_install/install.php

where {webserver address} can be the IP number of the site, or a full address like: www.blabla.com.
When the server resides on your local machine, your address would be 'localhost', without the quotation marks.

Close - it might not be http://localhost depending on the server you use. If you are using apache, localhost will work fine, but if you are using IIS, you must make sure that 127.0.0.1 (localhost) is specified for the appropriate website. By default, if I recall, IIS specifies the local IPs on Port 80 to the default website, including localhost, but depending on configuration localhost might not point to the proper website.

Uploaded the three files, ran install.php and then I'm asked for the installation directory. So far, so good.
But where do I have to create the suggested folders?
First I did it in the root directory, which is h**p://web296.webbox4.adminconfig.de/home/www/web296/html/yabbse. The red part is what is suggested by the installer. I chmoded every single directory to 777. But all I get when hitting "Start Installation" is the following message:
"Directory /home/www/web296/html/yabbse does not exist yet, please create it first".

I then created the directory in the folder where I put the install.php in and chmoded everything again, but still the same message.

So where do I have to create that damn directory ???

I'll IM you about your installer URL, then I can tell you where to create the directory.

You should have a message now, on the top of this board...

Okey, so, what will be the url you want to access your board from later on?

http://becurious.com/yabbse/index.php or you want to access it in this dir ?
(btw, don't use caps in the directory's and files for websites.....could give problems )

Thanks to Dave I figured out, how to set the correct path (at least for me).

He's doing a pretty good support!
But this is quite typical for the whole YaBB community.

Nothing more to say.
