I think my board was hacked

The other day I saw some weird problems on my board--a couple threads were locked when I didn't lock them (I'm the only one with administrator privileges). Now today the board is down completely. When I log in, it gives me this error:

If you don't log in (come in as Guest), it just says "Database Error".

I had been using a very late beta of 1.5.1 from about a week before final release. This morning I upgraded to 1.5.3. The upgrade went smoothly, but still no joy--my board is still down. You can see the forum (such as it is) at:

I looked at the database tables and they all seem to still be there. That file was just replaced so it's not the file itself, it must be the database. Any suggestions on how to fix this without losing my message base?

You where not hacked. That error has something to do with the a problem in the database. Someone should be along soon to help you with this error.

As for the topics being locked, users can lock their own topics that they started(if this option is enabled in settings), and moderators can lock topics in boards that they moderate. Also global moderators can lock any topics. So it isn't just administrators that are allowed to lock them.

Why would the database spontaneously develop a problem? I don't have the first clue how to fix it. I hope somone can help me. I can modify the database manually if I need to, but I have no idea where the problem is. I looked at line 151 in BoardIndex.php and it refers to two tables: boards and categories. I looked at those tables, but I can't tell what's wrong with them.

Do you have phpmyadmin? If so try running repair on the boards table and the categories table.

Yes, I do have PHPMySQLAdmin, but it doesn't look like table corruption. I can view everything fine.

Also, my entire site is down now. I'm getting a MySQL error. I think the problem with the board may have been with my ISP and its MySQL server. I'm trying to reach them.

The problem turned out to be with my ISP. The MySQL server was down. The board is back up now.

You mentioned that I can prevent users from locking the threads that they start. How do I do that?

Uncheck Installed 'Mods' Settings and Options -> Allow users to lock topics they start!
