If this question is covered somewhere and I've not found it with the search feature, I apologize.  I have tried.

When I get to the page where you must provide:

MySQL server name
MySQL username
MYSQL password
MySQL Database name
MySQL Database prefix

I do not know the proper values for this, as I've never worked with MySQL before, and don't plan to again with exception of special usage just like this application.

I've input the values that I _think_ are correct, but I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /home/www/html/yabbse/install.php on line 351

I've created a full power user for MySQL using the Webmin module, and am now using those credentials.  I've also verified that port 3306 is open via hosts.allow and ip filters.

Since it seems I don't have the right info, how do I look up the correct info, or reset it to whatever I want?

I'm very confused.

Dunno now, I read this to mean MySQL connections are supported.

dbx support enabled
dbx version 1.0.0
supported databases MySQL
ODBC
PostgreSQL
Microsoft SQL Server
FrontBase
Oracle 8 (not really)
Sybase-CT

QuoteMySQL server name
You're usually safe in leaving this as localhost, as most MySQL servers run on the same server as the web server.

QuoteMySQL username
This is the username that you created with full rights.

QuoteMYSQL password
This is the password that you gave the user.

QuoteMySQL Database name
Database name.  If it doesn't exist, and the user has the ability to create databases, it'll create a database with this name.  For sanity's sake, you can call it yse or yabbse, your choice.

QuoteMySQL Database prefix
defaulted to yabbse_, you can name it anything you want, especially if you're not going to share this database with any other script.

Thanks for trying, I should have specified that I tried those.

Here is what I get...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /home/www/html/yabbse/install.php on line 351

I used localhost (to use the unix sockets)
yabbse (created this user)
not telling password =)
yabbse (created this database)
yabbse_ (used the default)

So far no luck =(

Doesn't seem like php is compiled for MySQL support.  You might want to talk to your host about that.

Thank you for trying Douglas.  I'm gonna rip out the RedHat rpm's and retry with the official versions.

I'll repost when I have something to share, good... bad... or otherwise.    :)

Thanks again,
