Strange date() problem!

Hi all!

I have run into a really weird problem, which also affects my YaBB SE-board.

The problem is that when any of my php-applications use the php date() function to get the current time and date the server will return very various results. It's very hard for me to explain this in english, but if possible, please look at my example of this problem:

http://www.studorg.org/clocktest.php

Push the refresh-button of your browser many times and You will see that the time goes backward and forward randomly. This random-time "feature" also makes it very hard to manage a discussionboard, because the posts get the wrong timestamp and everything gets messed up.

Have any of You run into similar problems? I guess it has to do with the server, but don't no where to start.

Thanks for Your time!

Its a server issue

Could be the php installation or the systemclock

I'd be more inclined to think it's the system clock

Yes, yes. I'm from that cold country up in the north alright, where the glaciers attack you because they want to get in and get warm too. And it isn't Canada, Russia or Finland.

And NO, I'm not here to do support. I'm here to spy for the commies ;D

My guess is your host uses a load balencer and so each click you possbly get directed to a different server and the time is not synced between all the different servers.

That sounds reasonable! I just don't get my host to realize that this is really a big problem, and that it among other things makes my YaBB board go totally crazy. Well I guess the only thing to do is to keep mailing the host to fix the problem.

Thank You all very much for looking at this problem!
