I thought you wanted to be able to repsond to the email, and have it posted.  That's hard.

Agreed - it took me a long time to tweak it with HyperNews - requires having access to a bunch of mail configuration files that pretty well assume you're SysAdmin (which in my case I am).

Board-level notifications - or even forum-wide notifications are easy.  Look in Post.php, at the end of Post2().

OK - I did look in Post.phop, and the Post2 function, and while I see a number of things that seem to have to do with notifications, most of them seem to be for either (i) announcement boards, or (ii) people who've registered to have a particular thread followed.

I'm guessing that it is (ii) that I need to tweak, but it isn't clear to me that this is correct, or what I should do.

Suggestions?

Further, what is needed is a registration option such that when someone registers, they decide if they want email copies of everything or not. But if I tweak Post.php (even if I can figure out how), won't this send email to everyone whether they want it or not? If so, then this doesn't help completely, and will annoy some of my users.

In implementing this I have discovered that I need to use the PEAR Mail_Mime to fully implement the NotifyPlus options - is this a problem for folks - I have PEAR on  my server - just curious.

PEAR isn't on most servers, you'd have to include the library.

Why did you have to include it?

The original offered options for Plain, HTML & HTML attached with or without graphics - the PEAR one seemed to have al of the functionality of the Perl Mime one.
