Parse error + whole slew of others

Hey everyone...  first the vitals I guess:

* YaBBSE v1.5.1 newly installed
=>I tried to upgrade from v1.4.1 to 1.5.1 with errors - I then re-installed the whole thing fresh (used old MySQL db though)
* MySQL 3.23.55
* PHP 4
* Running out of Sprite, cigarettes, and patience (does that count?)
* URL = http://www.nsucom.info/community
    username: test password: test (dummy acct)

First speedbump:
I'm experiencing that damn cookie problem with users logging in - clicking a link - then getting sent to the login screen again.  

I've changed the TIME per the sugg in the post "v1.5.1 Problems Read Here First" and http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=140;action=display;threadid=21308 .  

I've played with the cookie mod's (manually) to change settings...  to no avail.  Per post: http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=155;action=display;threadid=17292;start=0



Is there a de-facto solution to the cookie challenge or should I downgrade to v1.3.0 (w/c I'm running on another site without any problems)




Second Speed bump:
When one clicks on a member name to view their profile, we get the WSOD:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/nsucom.info/httpdocs/community/Sources/Profile.php on line 1523

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: viewprofile() in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/nsucom.info/httpdocs/community/index.php on line 301

Ideas?  Thoughts?  Comments?  Suggestions?

Upload the files, Profile.php, again from the safe mode package.
