hi all !
my question is the following:
i installed yabbse 1.4.1 on my pc (localhost) without any errors, but when i type the address of my forum in IE I get a dialog for saving the file index.php, and i can't go on. Why ?
My system is :
windows xp
php 4.2.0
mysql 3.23.39

I have repeated the installation (remove the previous) but the problem is the same.
How can i solve it ?

Sorry, I don't know anything about apache.  You need to set up your webserver to execute the index.php file.

you don't seems to understand... Apache and Window doesn't work together very well  unless you tweak it. I would love to tell you how to make it all work, but it will be a lot of tech talk.

You will have to create a new user just for apache runtime, and assign the file permission through the user policy. How you would do that, go download apache 2.0 and it will teach you how.

Just thought I'd post in this topic since I'm having the same problems.

A friend of mine wants to upgrade his Yabb 1.4.1 install to 1.5.1.  So, I figured I try it out locally before we go in with guns blazing.

Anyways, I have many, many other PHP scripts coded that I test locally and they execute just fine, however, the index.php in Yabb wants me to download for some strange reason.

I'm using Apache 1.3, MySQL 3.23, PHP 4.3.1 and I'm on Win XP Pro.

I just find it weird that this file decides to act like this when I've made plenty other PHP scripts that execute fine.

Are you guys doing something strange with the headers or something?

Thanx for any information.

Maybe you installed the forum outside of the public html space?

Heh, nope.  I'm not that dumb. ;)

It's just really strange, I've never seen anything like this before.

I've installed other forum software such as phpBB and Invision with no problems at all...

If you save the file, what does it contain?
