Database not being set up

I am trying to install yabbse 1-5-0 have unzipped and uploaded everything, connected to database but it will not create a database.
I have had previous problems with this where i must use the server username and not the database name to log onto a database.
Is it possible to inform me of the table properties and manually set up a table?
Error showing is as follows:

Connection to server succeeded, but cannot use database yabbse.

please create an empty DB (with phpmyadmin i.e.) and let YaBB SE only create structure and inserts!

I just changed the name of the database to that of my server name, seemed to work!!
