here is a mod suggestion - something that will take posted messages to a thread and email to everyone who is part of the member group or has posted on the thread.

then, replies to the email will get added in as a post to the thread...

this would make me verrrrry happy - and let me kill yahoogroups where i use it.

I think that's only possible if you run your own server at home or if you have a co-located server.

well, i do

but barring the reply to thread feature, a simple link that pulls the user into the appropriate thread would suffice.

but to truly replace yahoogroups, there would have to also be some mechanism to create forums from user-groups, and restrict access based on those groups, with a moderator for each forum.
