But will this work the other way around?  ie.  If I click on an added smilie will it show the text I told swear filter to change to the smilie?

 in other words, when I click the regular smile, it shows ' : and ) next to eachother...  Do you follow me?

and yes, if you have : D=[ img]http://www.site/pic.gif[ /img] in your filtered words, it'll change any and all : D to whatever pic.gif is.

and if you think about it, if you edit the code you'll be safe from stuff like that. i tried to filter a s s (not sure if they do that here) but then someone typed the word "harass" and next thing i know it said "har%^*" :|  so, while using the filter is a good/easy/cheap way to "make new smilies", it's not practical for most ; ) : ) types of combos. BUT!!!! if you have your members get used to :afro: statements you can easily do :afro:=[ img]http://www.site/afro.gif[ /img] to get so it ~can~ be handy that way (but they wont be in the list at the top)

and now that i've argued for both sides, im going to go start a fight club...

there is an add smiles mod on matt's server if i am remembering correctly. that would probably be one of the easiest ways to do it.

what type of server are you on? did you go back and manually set the permissions? and what package? this thread deals with a search/replace of code. maybe you're talking about the thread which i link to below?

can anyone explain to me why, after following the instructions in this thread to a T, i get the following funky things in my admin settings? (mad/straight/what the? are 3 smily names i 'installed') they all still function the same yet they have new titles...

in the pic "straight" is supposed to be Manage Categories, "mad" is supposed to be Manage Boards, and "what the?" is supposed to be View/Delete members

of course, im not 100% on the original names... but you should see the "wrong" titles now...

I just installed the mod, now after installation completed I should have a link on Admin center thas says -- add more smilies --.
My prb is that that link dont show up, what can i do ??
