How can I use the layer tag to make a table (on top of another table) be centred? I cant get it to work, seems to still be stuck in the cell.

if you want to see what I want to do go to http://www.ud.barrysworld.net/board/index.php

its the top table (that says JK UT HL) how can I specify where it is using the layer tag?

In IE, use a DIV tag, and let netscape use the layer tag.

You should set the positioning to absolute or relative explicitly to make it float.
Positioning the div/layer is a pain in the ass, when you want it on the same spot in both browsers. I wrote a script which should give a good example of cross browser positioning of floating objects, but I'm not at home, for at least until next monday.
Joseph should know where the code went in yabbse, so he will most likely be able to paste the source of it, if you would like it sooner.
