Access to MySql

I am able to get to about step 3 and receive the following error message:
Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/yabbse/install.php on line 175

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/yabbse/install.php on line 175
Cannot connect to database server with given data

I was told that I can get access to MySQL via telnet.  Is there any way to use that with this install?

They indicated:

There is no additional charge for this and I have installed it for you.

It is located at usr/local/mysql.  You will most likely require Telnet access to your server.  You may request this at http://aitcom.net/selfhelp/telnet.

The are actually to ways to access MySQL. It can be thru our DBmanager or thru telnet. You will receive a user name and password after you order DBmanager and also after you apply for Mysql. Mysql actually does not have a user name and password requirement but the tools to access it do.

They just gave me some more information.  Is there somplace that I must input the path BEFORE I start the installation?

I have reviewed the links that you have provided and I believe I have a possible solution for you.

Because of the change root environment of our shared hosting solution, you will need to make a small modification to the path for files on your server.  Normally you refer to the file path as /usr/local/mysql, in the change root environment you will need to refer to the paths with the absolute server path which would be /vs3/vs3/rcboatco/usr/local/mysql.  This will apply to all paths that the chat room script refer to.
