Installation For YabbSe Dummies

Ok I went and got MYSQL/PHP installed on my server...webhost did it for me.

Now I have an existing version of YaBB Sp1 running,
How do I install this thing...
I tried the safemode, and nothing happens but errors.and i tried the non safe mod as well..

Can someone please make a FaQ pertaining to the yabb install, as well as the database setup for newbies to log into thier databases for the first time etc. etc.

One rightfully made install FAQ should solve everyones questions...

I have a site that will be changing in the next few weeks and merging with some bigger gaming site so I need this...and I would pimp ya shet proudly!

WTF? Is it something so far fetched that it cannot be addressed or answered.

I think this is the only forum in the whole yabb
series that actually avoids answering any questions!

no one's purposefully ignoring you - it's just that there are so many other issues to address.  There have been over 400 posts to this board in the last 24 hours. Even with the number of admins/moderators we have - we can't keep up.

The installation is dead simple - that's the frist reson why there is no faq.

You upload the files (the regular package if you know your server isn't in safe mode - the safemode pacakge otherwise) and run install.php.  It's that simple.

The second reason is because we don't have the time to make summy-proof instructions.

One question how do you know if ya server is on safe mode?  Any way to check?

Two ways, either download the normal version of YaBB SE and run the installer, it will tell you if you run safe mode. Or create a little file phpinfo.php:

Run it and see if it says something like safe mod = enabled somewhere
