IST offers services for a chat mod

Infinity Squared Technology's offers an IRC server irc.fun.2y.net this can be acces w/ any IRC client. We at IST would like to see a chat (java or some other language) added to YaBB SE.

We are willing to let YaBB SE use our IRC server for this Mod but cannot help in the process of making this mod (short on staff).

With all the free chats that are out there that only require you to add HTML code to your page, I dont see the need for a MOD to be made- but this is IMHO

Yeah, I agree. Personally, I use QuickChat (http://www.quickchat.org), because it's both an interface I can understand and administrate fairly well (IRC) and also has a nice, easy to use Java applet for those that don't have an IRC client.

You can do the same thing with this fellow's chat network, however, using jIRC or some such.

Since the subject was brought up involving IRC, I don't think that it would be veru hard to use JpilotIRC (a neat little Java Applet) as a base for a chat.  I use it with my PostNuke site (yes, it's an available module for PN) and it works flawlessly.  I created my own channel on IRC and it seems to be accessable from anywhere.

it would be pretty hard to create such a thing... you would prob need a voice chat server or something similar. I'll look into it and see what I can do :-)
