Is it impossible to build YaBB SE to support older PHP version? It's frustrating when you get PHP 4 support but it still doesn't work, it have to be even newer  >:(

Many users have got problems with this PHP version support, all servers not update versions all the time, think about this  8)

Or....just wait a bit and they will all have upgraded to the newer version.
I know it's annoying, but I am sure the developers had their reasons for it. Since they tried to have the board accessible with as much browsers as possible and so on, it's obvious to me they would do the same on the server side.

Yeah we thought we'd take full advantage of what the current version of PHP offer.  Oddly enough it's mostly the free hosts that don't upgrade often.

what version was it geared towards?
and what versions seems to be having a little conflict?

I see the current version is 4.1.1

my server is using. 4.0.6 with no probs. so is it versions prior to 4.0.6 that are having trouble?

just thought I would ask.

My advice would to be to get a webhost- you cant expect a free site to upgrade often

Well, we created on 4.0.6 and should work down to 4.0.3 at least.  But even on systems with 4.1.1 can have problems if some features are turned off, that's what we're fixing currently...

I agree about the host thing too, free hosts are awful ;)
