ive also noticed.. the installed mods settings dont get saved...

I have this problem also, but I went back in and check the again and save and the settings held(the second time)  ::)

a make sure Settings.bak in the same directory as Settings.php is chmoded to 777.

The first thing modiify settings tries to do is create a backup of the file.

If Settings.back doesn't exist you have 2 options
a) create one (just upload any old random file, rename it to Settings.bak) and chmod it to 777, OR
b) make the dir chmoded to 777 so that Admin.php can create the Settings.back file.

i got it working, just Chmod the directroy that contains settings.php and settings.php itself to 777
