Empty Reply Notifications

Problem Description:
I have received a few messages from people on my forum receiving empty reply notifications. They have requested to receive a notice if someone has replied to an post they started. When they receive this notice, they go to their message on the board, but there are not replies.

Why is this happening?

The last message I got from one of my users was this: "I received an email saying that a reply had been posted to a topic I was watching, but when I click the link, it says database error.It tells me to please try again.Then it says if I come back to the error screen, to report it to an administrator. Please HELP! What do I do??"

Not sure offhand, but it could be something as simple as folk deleting their own replies...
