It's in the language files.  I don't know off hand what string it is, but just look in english.lng for a part of it, like "Welcome to" or something.

To cut a long story short (I knew this was here but had a devil of a job relocating it with the wrong search strings):

This is probably a very simple question, but I can't find it on here anywhere...where are the e-mail templates located.  I'd like to modify the e-mails taht are sent to my users after registration.

A mixture of Register.php and english.lng!

Search Register.php for if ( $emailpassword ) and if ( $emailwelcome ), then follow up the $txt numbers in english.lng.

The same principle of course also applies to any other language pack.

Thank You.
I am a bit.. perplexed, and maybe you can help me clarify this... what I am looking to do is (while I self register my old users (my old Forum crashed and burned... and decided that I was not going to use it any more) ... send a special note to the users while I reload them in to the system of this change and their new passwords...  is it possible to know exactly what lines I am changing

Or is there a way to disable the emails that it sends out and I would just manually set the passwords and email it out my self?

Yes, if you understand the code...

Look for these in Forum Preferences and Settings:

Email Random Password to New Member Upon Registration?
Email new password if a user changes his/her email address?
Send welcome email to users when you do not have mail password turned on?
