Jail Mod

Hello -
I'm in need of a Jail Mod!
What I want is to set up a form called Jail and banish any trouble makers to the Jail forum. The user would only be able to post in the Jail forum and no where else on the BB. I just want someting simple where the admin can go into the users profile click on a box marked jail and thats it there posting days in the general forums are over until I say so.

I know some of you are asking why not just ban the user? Simple I run a board for kids, teens, and some adults and they are cool. Every now and again one of the teens causes trouble, and if I ban them they just come back as another user, and if I start baning their IP's it tends to block out other peoples IP's who are not banned...(AOL) Also for the most part the trouble makers just want attention, and this way they get to be in Jail and there friends can visit. Like I said they are good kids just once and awile they need a time out.
Can anybody help??

If you hold onto your shorts until 1.6.0, you can just add them into a Jail group that woill have those permissions... at least, that's what I'm trying to put in right now ;).

So that means I'm not allowed to beg you for the projected release date for 1.60? Darn!

Yes, a jail would be useful!
The users wont be able to post anything except write private messages so as to resolve the situation with the moderator. An automatic informative message could be sent by email or P.M. to the person that is sent to jail or taken out of.

So, version 1.6 will certainly have this option? or maybe?  :-\

Remember... llamas die when you ask for dates.

that is one of the most annoying things about great things when they are about to be released ..
I know in this situation it's different .. because developers wouldn't know when they are going to finish and if they knew they wouldn't know what type of bugs they are gonna see. ..

Well, I found the Mute Users mod, but I had another idea of a Jail mod:
Convicts will still see all the boards but will only be able to post in a specific "jail board" where they will talk, in a thread, with all the admins/moderators.

It's easy to make a board accessible by the groups "convict" and "administrator", the problem is how to restrict post ability for "convict" in the rest of the boards.  :-\

Couldn't you use the same functionality as the 'administrator board'?  Basically, write some code that checks the membergroup for 'convict' or something, and only allow posts that way (directly in the code)  By doing that, everybody can read the board (the same way guests can read your board if you have that enabled, but they can't post to the board.)

I guess what I'm saying is copy and modify the code that prevents guests from posting on the boards and modifiy it so that only the group 'convicts' can post.

I might be able to help you with this, when I have a moment to look through the code.  I think all that would be needed to modify would be the post.php file and then add some functionality to the modsettings.php.

How does that sound?
