First I would like to let you know that I'm not php, mysql or linux specialist. (prior to the forum installation, i did not even knew the existance, lol, many thanks to my hosting provider)

But I'm starting a website about food and cooking. Currently we are working on (sorry) MSN groups, and we are missing some functions.

We have many recipe's on our site, and would like to migrate them to the forum. One of the things we use is a template to enter the recipe's.

starting with ingredients, preparation, kind of meal, total preparation time.

Also users should not reply to the post (it is only for viewing, so the discussions should only be editible by the moderators.

I have checked the site, and could not find something I could use, but perhaps I overlooked some things.

Maybe you can make topics on your forum and make Categories/Boards for it. Hope I helped! ;)

Here is what I would do, although, it is a bit 'techie':

Create a form like this:

Have a textarea box for the ingredents.
Have a textarea box for the preparation.
Have a textarea box for the cooking instructions

Then combine all of those textarea inputs into one variable and save as the $message.

Then I would make the 'locked topic' check automatically checked.

Given some time, I might be able to write a mod for this.

What does anybody else think?

It sounds ok,

I allready created multiple catagories for the recipe's so that was ok.

But I noticed that when you try to post a message in the support area, you need to give details about php and mysql and others. Is that also someting I could use to set some variables. (like starter, maincourse, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, fat, carbohydrate, soup, meat, fish, vegetarian etc......)

If I could set those, then I would only need two text boxes (one for ingredients, and one for cooking instructions)

And yes if it is possible to lock the topic, automatically

there's a mod by Spaceman-Spiff that added fields to the thread creation form... pretty much like the Other Help board in this forum...

I couldn't find the thread, but I think it was named "Support Board"
