Hi,

the only reason I suggested it is because without your mod the sendmail function only takes 3 parameters as opposed to the current 4. (excluding $from)

I recognise that people obviously want to send HTML emails when your mod is installed and the couple of changes I suggested wouldn't affect anything else at all. It would just mean if a MOD came along that hadn't been purposely setup for HTML if they try to use it then they will get a serious error (as a parameter is always missing) - at least if the forth parameter had been made optional it would mean that the email would still get sent but the HTML version would look like plain text.

That said the preferred option in the end is to post a fix for each mod like you just did in the visual thread :D

Thanks

I like the idea of this mod.
One small point though.

I would not want the contents of any email sent to the users email address. firstly as this could be a private message and may be sent to a users business address.
Also, I do-not want the contents of, lets say, Im's being included in the email as I want them to visit the board to find out what the IM is about :)

I realise that others may find this OK, but could you, in your next version, have some type of admin section where the board admin can choose to have the contents sent or not.

Grudge,

While I can't do anything at the moment - (I'm doing some major coding for some other things right now) - I would agree with you that there is an incompatibility issue with the HTML email mod.  I do plan an enhancement that will allow the Admin to turn off HTML emails.  This will not revert back to the original sendmail function, however it will null out the HTML portion for all outgoing emails.   I think that the best thing to do would be to actually create a new sendmail function that the HTML email mod uses, and leave the standard YSE sendmail function alone.

GWP,

While I do see your point, I don't think there's anything I'm going to do about it.  In order allow an option to send or not send the content of the IMs, Messages, etc. every email would need to be rewritten, and the site would have 2 sets of code for each email.  I'm just not keen on stacking all that code in there.  My attitude is that your users are ultimately responsible if they use a work email account to register at a forum where content may be questionable.  You have to realize that no mod is going to satisfy everone's needs, and I'm not going to break my back trying to make 100% of everyone happy.  You can always go in yourself or have a PHP enabled friend go in and cut out the message contents.

Thanks for the reply haase.
Sorry, not knowing too much about the work involved in modding, I didn't realise the amount you would have to do.

I cannot install this mod on my SuperMod board anyway ( I did try), but your idea about taking out the email contents code would be acceptable to whoever wanted to do it.
P.S. My board does not have questionable content :) (at least I hope not)

I downloaded this mod to try it out ... but there is no email_template.php located in the zip file.

Also, I am not running PFaBB -- but I assume if I have a template file, it looks like it should work anyway. Am I right?

---Okay, I was able to get a hold of the email_template.php file by visiting Haase's website so I installed the mod. Unfortunately, for me... I do see a new email message containing all the Mime headers and at the bottom of the email, I see the HTML for the message. However, I do not get to see the intended HTML format. Anybody know why this is the case?

Did I not do something or miss something somewhere? I use Outlook as my email client/program.

.
Unless i have mis-understood you, you send the emails via the admin section. "Email members"
This has nothing to do with Outlook.

Schoolmarm, can you go into your site and on any topic, click the "Send Topic" button.  In the send topic form, send it to me at [email protected] so that I can take a look at it.

Thanks

Hello haase
I have installed this mod on my new board and it seems to work fine.
I have tested it by creating two accounts GWP & GWP2 on my board. I then sent GWP an IM from GWP2.
I downloaded my email and the template was fine and looked good :)

However, some of my members say they are getting just text with a load of "stuff" (Html) underneath it.
A sample is here:

QuoteContent-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=HTMLEMAIL3f774e78be7fb

This is a MIME encoded message.

--HTMLEMAIL3f774e78be7fb
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

amy has sent you the following Instant Message:
**********************************************
Re:- Enquiry

hi,GWP :) i just wanted to know how it work :)  amy :smiliedisco1:

Thank you,
The Site name. (http://www.mysite.com/forum/index.php)
--HTMLEMAIL3f774e78be7fb
Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1

<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
 a:link { color: #005177; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; }
 a:visited { color: #005177; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; }
 a:hover  { color: #cc3333; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; }

Is there any reason why this should happen.
I have sent myself another Im and it still seems fine.
Thanks

Haase seems to be busy. http://www.lunabyte.com/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=1179

Paste this into a new file and call it email_template.php.
