A user forgot his password, I tried to find it in all the mysql folders i can find fron the ftp. I had found them once to manually add users back after a bad conversion left my board useless, but I cant find them again. Where do I look for them? I have looked in all the folders called yabbse in the db but I must be overlooking them. It's a unix server.

thanks

Firstly, there aren't any MySQL 'folders' you can access through FTP (just MySQL tables you can access through phpMyAdmin or similar).

Secondly, the passwords are encrypted so that even admins can't tell what they are.

That said, your users can retrieve their passwords through the 'Forgot password?' link on the main login screen (not the quick VB-style login) or you can manually reset them (as admin) in their profiles.

You can't find user's actual passwords, as they are encrypted in the database with a one-way encryption (I e only encrypt, no decrypt).

So you basically have two options: Either ask the user to use the "Forgot password" link to get a new random password, or go into his/her profile and change their password to something else and then e-mail him/her with whatever password you entered.
