Possible to do new install on existing board?

This may be a stupid question but oh well...

I've got a board that's over a year old and been through about 2-3 upgrades and lots of mods.

Is it in any way possible to wipe everything and do a fresh full yabbse install but maintain the current db?  I'd like to start from scratch with clean (non-modded) yabb files so I can start clean and avoid problems.

Don't imagine this is possible, but thought i'd ask anyway

So long as the YaBB SE version numbers match, it's childsplay! Backup your current database, stick it somewhere safe, install your new board then use your backed up .sql file to restore the database and... voila!

Alternatively, you could just pick up all the source files from the latest safe mode package, manually edit Settings.php for your database info, paths and stuff and FTP the new files to your YaBB SE directory.

I want to upgrade to 1.5.2....

But you're saying I should restore my db on a clean version of my current yabbse install (1.4.1) and then run the upgrade to 1.5.2??  If so, that makes sense.
Good idea!

Absolutely!

The matching version numbers are the important bit so, if your current board is 1.4.1, disregard my second reply about the latest files, do it with 1.4.1 and then upgrade.

Or head straight for a 1.4.1 to 1.5.1 upgrade, which will overwrite all your existing source files anyway...

Hmmm...That tends to leave stuff  (mod-wise) I thought when you upgrade, or am I just thinking that because it leaves your template alone?

My main thing is that I have probably over 5 mods installed and if I'm going to lose them, I'd rather start clean and re-add them.

Upgrading will basically leave your settings, paths and template untouched but overwrite everything else in your source files (including mods)! :)

Hmmm...well, if it overwrites mods, then I guess that would be the easiest solution then...might as well just run a normal upgrade then, huh?
