I was going to make a suggestion on the MOD Development board - figure here will do, but what I say is probably completely obvious and already being addressed.

For a start, there are a number of sticky threads blocking up the board which haven't been updated since August 2002. If these all apply to 1.4.1 and earlier, then it could be a good idea to simply merge the those threads into a single topic renamed something like "major listing of MODs - <1.4.1", or whatever.

Also, on top of that, if would be nice if we could encourage reports on which MODs actually integrate seamlessly, and if a conflict occurs, then where (ie, which code section is modified, with perhaps suggests on how to integraet). Point being that I'm tentatively looking to MOD my main board, and although I know which features I'd most like to install, I'd much prefer it if I knew which MODs would go together without problem, so I know how to order my MODing priorities.

Hope that's not too cheeky.  :o

Cheeky, because I'll end up trying to take charge of this place if I'm not careful. ;) Meglomania is something you can't keep at home.  :P

Besides, I wouldn't want to sound like I was disrespecting the modders who's hard work was listed in the older threads.

I meant, how do you like what I just did to the Completed Mods board?

Ah yes - much clearer now. The more recent mod developments are much more visible.

You do know this has all been brought up before? There have been several aborted attempts at making a SE boardmod site. But to actually complete one it would mean they would have to get their crap together and listen to each other. And, God forbid, listen to the people will actually use the software.

As far as child boards go I've already made them. They're no big deal. I think they're pretty handy but wouldn't be needed on a properly designed boardmod site.

Is that a challenge?  I'd like to think I can listen to others.... and I'm going to make it my goal (soon, after I get some crap with school done... tests, etc coming soon.) to get Boardmod SE running.  We've actually revived an attempt at it, so I think it's gonna (gasp) happen.

As far as child boards (I think a lot of people have made them, eh?), you have to realize that Boardmod should be less like a forum (although still a forum!) and more like a download page.  And, with download pages... having lots of pages, access only to recent information, etc. is bad.  Instead, everything needs to be WELL categorized - even if it means some things do't have much in them.

After all, which would you rather - to have to crawl through 80 pages to find a proper text editor, or to be able to click on "Text Editors" and get a good one?

If you don't believe me... go to download.com.  Do they have everything just strewn in one big long list?  No!

I'm glad you think you listen. Now perhaps you may want to add trying to understanding to that. Here's what I said about childboards. "I think they're pretty handy but wouldn't be needed on a properly designed boardmod site." Notice the word - wouldn't. Now what part of that statement gave you the idea I wasn't aware of download.com and/or how to design a download site?

Perhaps we are misunderstanding each other, but what I was trying to say is that they are neccessary for a Boardmod site.

Please, stop trying to pick fights.  I have no wish to quarrel over such stupid things.

I would disagree with you, a download site is totally different from a forum, but I don't want to argue with you. ;D Definately a misunderstanding. :-*

I'm not trying to start a fight. If I was I would have said something like, "you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny".  :)
