i'm running everything off my local system, php, apache, mysql, everything, but i can't set up mysql username and pass.

i know this isn't perhaps the best forum to ask for info, but i've tried everything to set up my password.  i tried all the tutorials, and they all seem to work, but when i try my password, it doesn't give me access.

any help?

*edit*
never mind, i read a bit further and got mysql running. its all good, server is up, forums work! yay!

Just for the reference of people using search, I'll say that this can generally be done using the GRANT command.

Also, on a default installation your username is root and your password is nothing.
