tried to upgrade to 1,51, now dead in the water

upgrade finished, index.php giving some mysql errors, and could not stay logged in after going to another page...decided to upgrade my php / php-mysql packages to 4.1x versions (I was using 4.0x and they were too old for 1.51 yabbse), and now I am getting  mysql_connect() errors all over the place...i panic'd and put the original yabbse directory back in place to try to save it, its still a goner...mysql database still seems in tact, and as far as i know has gone through the 1.51 conversion...what can i do to get a working forum again?

First thing is to get PHP 4.1.x or greater.  From the error on the forum page it apears PHP was not correctly compiled with MySQL support.

YaBB SE has always used this function: mysql_connect().

If it's not defined, bother your host to upgrade PHP 4.3.1.

thanks guys...i run it on my own host, so i think thats where my problem is!  ??? i need to get php4.3 and a php-mysql 4.3 right?

You need to get a working version of PHP compiled and running first.

i totally messed up my server...i am so lost and confused...how can i back up my mysql database and move it onto another server??
