What MySQL version do you have?

version 3.22.32

should i try the safe install?  it creates all the directories fine, it is just the database tables it seems to have trouble with.

The safe mode installer wouldn't be any different.

UNOFFICAL and UNSUPPORTED: You might try the 3.22 compatible yse151.sql file posted here: (just upload it, save with notepad...)
